Talk therapy in Issaquah, WA.

Services

I provide psychotherapy to individuals, ages 16 and up. Drawing from interpersonal dynamics, existential thought, and humanistic tradition, my approach is one that focuses on you in the context of your world. How we make sense of who we are can be a complicated process, and it's important to know where we stand in a world of unknowns. I do my best to help clients better understand themselves, their world, and their relationships in a way that they may interact with these in a more authentic, life-giving way. Everyone deserves a space in which they can be themselves completely, to discover the steps in creating a life worth living. Through time spent together, my hope is that we will collaboratively gain more clarity about who you are, who you want to be, and in what direction you would like to go.

If you are curious about working with me, I offer free 20 minute phone consultations for any questions you might have, as well as to offer a chance for you to see if we might be a good fit.

Experience

Portrait of Brett Baldwin, LMHCA

I received my Master of Arts in Psychology from Seattle University where I was trained in existential-phenomenology, a lens that attempts to understand human experience from a basis of how an individual sees themselves in the world, and in how an individual makes meaning in their life.

Before starting my own therapy practice, I interned at a community mental health agency working with children and families. Before this, I volunteered as a crisis phone worker, to eventually work as a crisis intervention specialist. I also have a number of years of working with children on the autism spectrum.

I am a gay man and I am LGBTQ+ affirming. I am especially drawn towards working with people who have struggled to find acceptance among their communities, as well as with people who are in the process of finding out what is true, whether this is of themselves, their world, or their existence.

Fees

My fee is $135 per 55 minute individual session. As I believe everyone should have access to therapy, I offer a number of sliding scale rates to those with limited income when available. If you are in need of an adjusted rate, please bring this to my attention in our initial phone consult.

Insurance

I am not paneled with any insurance companies at this time, but I can provide you with monthly statements to submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. If you are unsure about whether or not you will be reimbursed, reach out to me and I can provide questions you can ask your insurance company.
